Homes for Rent
Near Fort Jackson
Orders landed and you need a place to live. Here is where families actually rent around post, what screening looks like, and how to start a lease from another duty station.
Where PCSing families actually land.
Fort Jackson sits inside the Columbia metro, so you are not choosing between post and a distant town — you are choosing which side of the installation fits your commute, your schools and your budget.
Most families look first at Northeast Columbia — the Pontiac, Sandhills, Dentsville and Woodfield areas along Two Notch Road, Clemson Road and Leesburg Road — because the drive to the Fort Jackson Boulevard and Leesburg Road entrances is short. Elgin, in Kershaw County, offers more land for the money on the northeast side. Blythewood draws families who want Richland School District Two and quick I-77 access. Across the river, West Columbia and Lexington suit anyone who wants the Lexington County side and does not mind the river crossing each morning.
On-post family housing is managed separately from the private market. What we represent is the private inventory around it: duplexes, single-family homes and townhomes, often owned by the same investors and military retirees who have been renting here for years. Pet policies, fenced yards and lease terms differ owner by owner, so ask before you fall in love with a listing.
If your report date is close, we can tour a property on video while you are still at your losing station, walk you through the application and tell you honestly what can and cannot be held. John is a Military Realtor who has moved his own family on orders, and he manages rentals as well as selling them — so the person answering your questions is the person who handles the maintenance call.

Income and ID
Expect an application, proof of income or orders, references and a background check. Having the paperwork scanned before you tour keeps a good unit from going to the next family.
Pets, in writing
Pet rules come from the owner, not from us, and they vary by property. Tell us about the dog up front and we will only show you homes where it is actually allowed.
Your report date
Tell us the date you need keys in hand. Being clear about the timeline is the fastest way to know whether a home is realistic for you or not.
